چکیده

The authors show the importance of achieving an acceptable level of output side mode suppression ratio, when generating pulses using the self seeded gain switched technique. Experiments carried out on such pulses exhibiting poor side-mode-suppressionratios that are subsequently filtered to improve the latter, demonstrate that they possess an associated level of noise. This buildup of noise with decreasing inherent side-modesuppression-ratio is noticed regardless of the improved output filtered side-modesuppression-ratio of 35 dB that is maintained. The degradation of the signal is due to the mode partition effect and may render these pulses unsuitable for use in high-speed optical communications systems. Multi-stage Ytterbium Fiber-amplifier Seeded by a Gain-switched Laser Diode

We demonstrated all-fiber amplification of 11 ps pulses from a gain-switched laser diode at 1064 nm. The diode was driven at a repetition rate of 40 MHz and delivered 13 μW of fiber-coupled average output power. For the low output pulse energy of 325 fJ we have designed a multi-stage core pumped pre-amplifier in order to keep the contribution of undesired amplified spontaneous emission as low a...

Tunable picosecond blue and ultraviolet pulses from a diode-pumped laser system seeded by a gain-switched laser diode.

Picosecond pulses emitted from a gain-switched laser diode have been amplified in a Ti:sapphire regenerative amplifier indirectly pumped by a 4-W laser diode. This all-solid-state system produced microjoule pulses tunable from 803 to 840 nm at repetition rates up to 25 kHz with durations of 70-100 ps. By frequency doubling and tripling the output, we generated blue and UV pulses tunable from 40...

Study and Analysis of A Simple Self Cascode Regulated Cascode Amplifier

This article proposed a simple self cascode RGC amplifier configuration to increase the gain and bandwidth. The cascode amplifier eliminates the miller capacitance between input and output and facilitates high gain, high input and output impedance with high bandwidth. However, the cascode amplifier requires relatively high supply voltage for proper operation and it decreases the output voltage ...

Self-seeded, Single-frequency Nd:YAG Q-switched Micro Laser with 1.7-ns, 1-mJ pulses at 1 kHz

Q-switched, single frequency lasers are essential for wide variety of applications such as high-resolution spectroscopy, LIDARs, optical communications and laser trapping or cooling. Such lasers operating at 1064 nm that are compact and provide high energy at high repetition rates are ideal seed sources for solid-state-bulk or fiber amplifiers. Following the demand of these applications, in the...

The advantage of using a diode laser instead of a Q-switched laser in photoacoustic imaging of tissues

Photoacoustic (PA) imaging of biological tissues using laser diodes instead of conventional Q switched pulsed systems provides an attractive alternative for biomedical applications. However, the relatively low energy of laser diodes operating in the pulsed regime, results in generation of very weak acoustic waves, and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the detected signals. This problem can be ...
